Description

The Widex TV-DEX provides a top-range television listening experience to hearing aid users, allowing high quality audio to be streamed directly into your hearing aids with no delay. The device is a two-element system that is made up of a TV-Controller and a TV-Base which plugs into the power source and television and charges the controller. The controller is easily lifted from the base and can be worn around the neck while in use thanks to the lanyard provided. The EchoFree technology designed by Widex makes for an ultra-low delay in the audio streaming, providing a clear and undistorted finish.

Charging:

The TV-Base charges fully in just 4 hours, ideal for powering up overnight. In turn, this provides up to 10 hours of uninterrupted stereo streaming.

How to use:

To begin sound transmission, simply press the transmission off/on key on the controller one time. An acoustic signal will then sound in your hearing aids and the LED indicator will turn green. In case you walk out of operating range the sound streaming will stop, but upon re-entering the range, connection will re-establish automatically.

The simple up/down buttons on the controller allow you to easily adjust the sound volume without having to reach for the television remote control. In this way, you can have the volume at your preferred level without disturbing anyone else in the household.

In case you would like to eliminate distracting sounds from around the house in the background, you can use a separate button- ‘Room Off’, which switches the hearing aid microphones off.

Compatibility:

The Widex TV-Dex is compatible with Widex Evoke*, Beyond/Beyond Z, Unique*, Dream* and Super hearing aids.

*except for CIC microdevices.

Despite being on ‘back order’ it was delivered within a couple of weeks. Sorting out the wiring to the TV was straightforward but will depend on the features of your set. Getting the hearing aids to pair with the dongle was difficult with no advice provided in the manual. These steps worked:
    Charge dongle overnight,
Place dongle and hearing aids on table,
Open and close hearing aid battery compartment,
Press and hold dongle top button for at least five seconds.
The range from dongle to TV is fine in open space but down a corridor and into a bedroom causes loss of signal. It reconnects quickly when back in the room. The sound quality is excellent and far exceeds wearing headphones on top of hearing aids. It’s highly recommended but a little expensive.

Excellent product which has made my TV viewing really enjoyable again, I can hear all the dialogue clearly. Hearing Aid Accessories were really good and special thanks to Samantha who was very helpful and answered all my queries.
